I would say invest your first 6 molars into +hp and +stam the upgrades are very good for very low cost. 1-2 molars for a nice chunk of stam/hp is too juicy to pass up, esp since max mutations wont actually help early on since you probably wont have multiple good mutations unlocked anyway.
