Overview. Perhaps the most family-friendly of all UBC museums, the Beaty Biodiversity Museum is immediately recognizable by the giant blue whale skeleton hanging over its lobby. With more than two million specimens dating from the early 1900s, Vancouver’s only natural history museum is a treasure trove of fish, fossils, birds and bugs. The museum endeavours to put on display the vivacious biodiversity of Orissa, the North East and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Depicting the richness of these different regions under one roof, the museum thus makes people aware of the natural heritage of the state as well as the country.Hours. Tuesday – Sunday 10:00 am – 5:00 pm. Gift Shop hours – 10:00 am – 5:00 pm. Beaty Nocturnal – Every third Thursday of the month, 5:00 pm – 8:30 pm with admission by donation.
